Climate change will increase the risks of coastal flooding and erosion in Jersey.
The main impacts for sea defence are an increase in sea level and more frequent and intense storms. This will increase coastal flooding and erosion in Jersey.
The seawalls around Jersey will provide less protection from flooding as sea levels rise.
Continued maintenance of seawalls is essential, but is no longer enough. In the future there will be a need for enhancement to seawalls and other defences.
The States of Jersey has a strategic commitment to ensuring the Island’s climate resilience. This report aligns Transport and Technical Services policies to that commitment.
