Summary
On 31 October 2015:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as actively seeking work (ASW) was:
- 50 lower than the previous month
- 30 higher than the average for the preceding three months
- 80 higher than a year earlier
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,520; this is 40 lower than the previous month and 90 higher than a year earlier
- 53% of people registered as ASW were female (800 individuals) and 47% were male
(720 individuals) - long-term ASW (registered for more than 12 months) accounted for around one in eight (13%) of the total ASW
- the number of long-term ASW (190 individuals) was 10 fewer than the previous month
(September 2015) and 40 fewer than twelve months earlier (October 2014); of these 190 individuals, 110 were engaged in some form of paid employment but were classified as underemployed
