Summary

The Minister for the Environment is proposing the introduction of a low, broad and fair land development charge to pay for community facilities and help offset the impact of development on an area.

The Department of the Environment commissioned Arup Limited to carry out viability testing.  The assessment was carried out between September 2016 and May 2017. It included consultation with:

  • developers
  • agents
  • valuers
  • other stakeholders in the construction industry
