Collective redundancy consultation

Produced by the Customer and Local Services
Authored by Employment Forum and published on 30 Apr 2010
Prepared internally, no external cost

Summary

The Social Security Minister directed the Employment Forum to consult on the collective redundancy consultation provisions, as set out in the Employment (Amendment No. 5) (Jersey) Law 200- (which has now been enacted).

This consultation considered:
  1. the appropriateness of the reduction in the number of proposed redundancies that would trigger the requirement for an employer to consult with staff representatives in collective redundancy situations; and
  2. whether the collective consultation procedures and penalties should be refined in accordance with that reduced threshold.
