Summary

​​The registered unemployment report for January 2011 has been released by the Statistics Unit.

This latest report shows that:
  • the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1,390
  • the latest monthly ASW total is: 180 higher than that of a month earlier (December 2010); 190 higher than that of a year earlier (January 2010)
  • there were 320 new registrations in the 4-week period prior to the end of January 2011, which is some 150 more than the corresponding figure for the end of December 2010;
  • about a quarter of the ASW total were teenagers aged 16-19 years; 140 teenagers were on the Advance to Work Scheme
