This annual report details the numbers of deaths occurring in calendar year 2022, and their distribution by:

  • age
  • sex
  • cause of death

Age-standardised mortality rates (ASMRs) have been calculated, and information on premature, avoidable (treatable and preventable) and excess winter mortality estimates are also included.

Trends over time and comparisons between jurisdictions are made where appropriate.
