Summary

​​This report focuses on the Jersey youth justice system and made over 20 recommendations, including the immediate ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

The report covers:
  • prevention of offending
  • diversion and prosecution
  • youth court
  • probation and after care
  • level of custody
  • care of children in custody
The report also makes a number of recommendations that would see Jersey eliminate, or virtually eliminate, the need for child custody on the Island.
