Summary

​​This report sets out the findings of an assessment of the archaeological and architectural significance of the Esplanade.

There are two parts to this study: an analysis of the potential for the survival of archaeological remains and palaeoenvironmental deposits below ground, and an assessment of the standing buuildings. These are linked by a review of the urban topography.
