Jersey Private Patients offers a private patient service within Jersey General Hospital. This enables you to have your procedure or treatment on-Island.

We welcome patients with private health insurance or choosing to self-fund their treatment.

Our dedicated private patient unit is on Sorel ward, accessed via lifts at the Parade entrance of the hospital.

Your wellbeing is important to us and we are here to look after you. We pride ourselves on our quality of care and friendly atmosphere. We will do everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so that you can focus on your recovery.

The ward has seen many recent improvements and we continue to invest in our facilities. We strive to improve your experience of the private patient service.

The comfort and flexibility of private care benefits from the clinical back-up of all hospital services, including critical care, if required.

What we provide

Jersey Private Patients provides:

• consultant-led care
• choice of when you have your operation or procedure, as agreed with your consultant
• dedicated nursing team and private chefs
• en-suite rooms with TV with freeview channels and free WiFi, overlooking St Aubin’s Bay or St Helier
• flexible visiting hours
• clinical back-up of all hospital services, including critical care
  

Providers of private care

Providers of private care at Jersey General Hospital include:

• the hospital
  
• your consultant or anaesthetist
• diagnostic and therapeutic services such as pathology, radiology, clinical investigations and physiotherapy

Consultant-led care

Many of our consultants offer private patient services at Jersey General Hospital.​

Our consultants are all members of the General Medical Council. They have trained in the UK, Europe and other countries around the world. They have years of experience and expertise in their specialty. Many consultants have written articles, textbooks and research papers within their chosen specialty. They also run seminars and lectures for junior doctors and nurses.

Your GP can refer you to a hospital consultant. Our consultants see patients in their private rooms for consultations and follow-up appointments. Many consultants have their private rooms in the centre of St Helier. If you need an operation, procedure or treatment, you will liaise with your consultant to agree a date.

As a private inpatient, Jersey General Hospital staff provide care and treatment. This will be under your consultant’s instructions.​
