Recovery at Clairvale

Clairvale is a residential rehabilitation service that supports adults with their mental health recovery.

We help you with complex or long-term mental health needs, including if you:

  • have a long‑term or severe mental health condition
  • are experiencing a relapse of psychosis
  • have had several hospital admissions in the past 2 years
  • have more than 1 mental health condition
  • find it hard to live safely outside hospital
  • have lost work, feel isolated or are at risk of self‑neglect because of their mental health
  • need support from a team of different health and care professionals

Our focus is on support you to:

  • achieve your recovery goals
  • improve your mental health and wellbeing
  • return home or move into the community when possible

What to expect

Clairvale has 10 beds and each resident has their own bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.

Our facilities offer communal and calm spaces, including:

  • laundry and cooking facilities
  • a garden
  • a welcoming main lounge
  • a separate quiet lounge

When you arrive, you’ll meet your key worker, other staff and the people staying at Clairvale. We’ll show you to your room and shared areas.

You can bring your phone and personal belongings to help you feel comfortable.

You’re free to go out whenever you like. Family and friends can visit but can’t stay overnight.

How to access the service

You can be referred to Clairvale by:

  • your care co-ordinator
  • the inpatient team, if you received mental health care in hospital

If they feel Clairvale would benefit you, they will make a referral on your behalf.

Once we receive your referral, the Clairvale Recovery and Pathway Team review your information. They will contact you to arrange an assessment and talk through the next steps.

The outcome of the assessment will help us decide if Clairvale can support you.

Support you receive

We work with you to understand your needs and support your recovery. This is to help you build the skills you need to return to life in the community.

We support your recovery by helping you to:

  • reduce isolation and build social connections
  • develop everyday skills such as cooking, cleaning, self care and managing money
  • build routines and confidence
  • live more independently in the community
  • return to education, volunteering or work
  • understand your mental health and medication
  • prepare for discharge and reduce the risk of going back into hospital

Clairvale is part of the rehabilitation pathway, helping you practise the skills needed for independent living.

We use a range of approaches, including:

  • psychoeducation
  • trauma informed care
  • daily living skills support through occupational therapy

You’ll be encouraged to spend more time in the community, taking part in activities that interest you, such as sport, art, music, learning new skills or volunteering.

About our team

Clairvale is managed by a registered manager and deputy manager.

They are supported by senior healthcare assistants and our mental health teams.
