Why we’re reviewing our mental health services
Mental health services were reviewed in 2014 to 2015 to help us plan for the future.
A comprehensive mental health strategy for Jersey was launched at the end of 2015 and sets out how we plan to change and improve services up until 2020.
The implementation of the strategy is being led by Health and Social Services with involvement from other departments and the community voluntary sector.
The strategy focuses on five key priorities:
- social inclusion and recovery
- prevention and early intervention
- service access, care co-ordination and continuity of care
- quality improvement and innovation
- leadership and accountability
An engagement day is planned for April 2016, to describe the progress and achievements of people working towards changes and for people to find out and contribute to future plans.
Every year projects will be undertaken to ensure improvements and changes take place.
2016 will focus on:
- implementing service changes in older adult mental health services
- develop a local recovery college / network
- co-ordinating and enhancing public mental health awareness raising
- developing school based prevention and early interventions for young people
- enhancing service response to people needing urgent mental health assessment
- developing quality standards and key measure of performance across the system
