Children's services

What does the Children's Service do?

It is the aim of the children’s service to provide services that promote, safeguard and improve the wellbeing of all children and their families in Jersey.

We try to ensure that services are easily accessed, equitable, based on people’s assessed needs, and delivered in an appropriate and timely way so as to maximise their effectiveness. A multidisciplinary approach, that utilises the expertise of a range of individuals and agencies, is used to achieve these aims.

Accessing the Children's Service

Referrals are taken from a range of agencies involved with children and families, and from members of the public who have concerns regarding the physical, emotional and developmental needs of a child or children.

A referral can be made by ringing the children's service and asking for the Duty Officer or by calling into the office in person between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday. The Children's Service is based at Le Bas Centre - see the contact details section on the right of this page for more information.

If a service is required outside of these times, we provide an ‘emergency only’ duty system via the police. The police will contact the Duty Officer who will then ring you back.

Do not email the children's department with any urgent concerns about children. Instead, contact us by telephone as this will ensure that any concerns can be dealt with quickly.
