About us
The Empty Homes Service brings empty homes back into use by providing advice and guidance to Islanders and carrying out case reviews for empty properties.
The service has been created in response to the Minister for Housing and Communities’ Action on Vacant Properties report.
Bringing empty homes back into use will:
- reduce pressures in Jersey’s housing market
- reduce the deterioration of empty properties and associated crime and anti-social behaviour
- improve the appearance of the built environment
- improve housing standards
- regenerate communities
How the Empty Homes Service works
The empty homes service tackles the issue of vacant homes, making more homes available for Islanders to live in.
It provides advice and guidance to people concerned about empty homes and works with individual homeowners and other Government departments, providing assistance to bring empty homes back into use.
It monitors and analyses demand to support the development of new policies and additional tools to unlock more properties and bring them back into use.
