Items we won't collect
You can't leave large or hazardous items out for collection with your household rubbish. This includes:
- furniture
- mattresses
- white goods
- TVs and electrical goods
- solvent-based paints and chemicals
You should take these items to the household recycling centre at La Collette.
Don't throw glass away with household rubbish.
Kerbside recycling schemes
If you live in St. Brelade, St John, St Lawrence, St Mary or Trinity, you'll receive a monthly kerbside recycling collection for items such as paper, cardboard (St Brelade, St Lawrence and St Mary), metal packaging and plastic bottles.
If you live in St Helier, you may get a fortnightly kerbside recycling collection for paper, cardboard, cans and plastic bottles.
The collection day for kerbside recycling will depend on which parish you live in. You should contact your parish hall for more information.
If you live in a parish that doesn't have a kerbside recycling collection, contact your parish hall and let us know that you're interested in recycling.

Glass collections
Your parish also provides a glass collection service or glass recycling facilities. It's important that you separate your glass from your other rubbish.
All parishes (except St Helier) have a glass collection. It may be a monthly or weekly collection, depending on where you live. Check the parishes website to find out when your glass will be collected.
If you live in St Helier, you should take your glass to any of the glass recycling banks located across the parish.
You can also take glass to the household recycling centre at La Collette.
