About the Tourism Development Fund (TDF)
The TDF provides grants towards projects that:
-
will increase visitors to Jersey
-
are sustainable
-
are in line with the current Visit Jersey Destination Plan
-
will attract other sources of investment in tourism
Who can apply for funding
You can apply for funding if you are based in Jersey and a:
-
company
-
charity
-
not for profit organisation
Government departments can apply, but your application will only be considered if it’s clear why your project can’t be supported using your department’s budget.
What you can get funding for
Funding is available for:
-
large marketing expenses
-
events which improve a visitor’s experience
-
events which help extend the tourist season
-
sports events that encourage spectators, participants and off-Island media coverage
-
the development of infrastructure relevant to the advance of tourism
What you can’t get funding for
You won’t get funding if:
-
the event has already happened
-
you haven’t attempted to find funding from other sources (you will need to show evidence of this)
-
your project costs are considered to be more for sports development rather than tourism
-
you’re asking for more than 50% of the project cost
How to apply for funding
You’ll need to fill out the application form and send it to the Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture Department.
Your application must:
-
have a business plan
- be for specific projects or events that go beyond the ‘business as usual’ expenditure
- show that the project or event will benefit the tourism industry as a whole, rather than one organisation
- be submitted with enough lead time to the project / event so that the funding can make a difference
- be in line with the current ‘Visit Jersey Destination Plan’
You should also talk to Jersey Business and Visit Jersey; both can offer you free help and advice.
