Free books for your baby (My First Book Bag)

My First Book Bag is our way of welcoming new babies and their families to the world of reading. It also encourages a love of books from the start.​

In the bag you'll find:

• 2 board books
  
• a library card​ for your baby
  
• activity ideas for under 5 years old
• tips to support early speech and language development
  

You receive your bag for free when registering your baby's birth at the Office of the Superintendent Registrar.

Activating the library card

You'll need to activate the library card in your bag before you can use it.​ The card is attached to the information leaflet.

Take the card to the library and proof of your:

• identity
• address
  

We don’t need your baby's proof of identity.​

Events and activities for under 5 years old

The bag​ can also connect you and your baby to library sessions like:

• Baby Bounce
  
• Rhyme and Play
• Toddler Time
