How to return books and late fines
You can return items at any of our locations, no matter where you borrowed them.
You can use:
- our self-service kiosks
- the mobile library
- the drop box outside the Town Library entrance
You don’t need your library card.
We no longer have late fines. However, you should return or renew items on time so other people can borrow them.
Renewing books
If you still need a book after 4 weeks, you can renew it up to 3 times. Each renewal lasts another 4 weeks.
To renew your book you can:
- use our self-service kiosks
- log in to My Account
- contact us
You don’t need your library card.
You can’t renew a book if someone else has reserved it. You must return it at the end of your loan period.
After 3 renewals, you’ll need to return the book and borrow it again if you still want it.
Borrow from other libraries (interlibrary loans)
UK libraries
We can borrow books for you from UK libraries if they’re not available at Jersey Library.
The minimum fee for an interlibrary loan is £5. This can change depending on the item you request. You’ll need to pay when you collect the book.
To request an interlibrary loan, come to the Town Library and complete the form. You must be a library member.
We’ll let you know when your book is ready to be collected. You can keep items for up to 3 weeks.
You can’t request fiction titles or recently published books through this service.
Highlands College
You may be able to borrow a book in our catalogue that’s held at Highlands College.
This is free for Highlands College students, otherwise it’s £1. You must be a library member.
