Jersey Clubmark: sports club award

About Jersey Clubmark

Jersey Clubmark is an award scheme for sports clubs who have met high standards in:

  • club management
  • safety
  • coaching and competition
  • off-island travel

It is similar to UK Clubmark but takes account of the differences between Jersey and the UK. For example we have added a section on off-island travel as many sports clubs want to compete or train outside Jersey and we want to make sure that you can do that safely.

Jersey Clubmark is valid for three years.  After this time your club will be rechecked to make sure you still meet the criteria.

Who can get Jersey Clubmark

Any sports club in Jersey can work towards the award.  It was originally set up for clubs which had members under 18 years old but has now been expanded so that all clubs can get the award. If your club doesn’t have junior members then some of the standards will be different or may not apply at all. Some sports associations in Jersey are also working on the scheme.

Benefits of Jersey Clubmark

There are lots of benefits to getting Jersey Clubmark:

  • more members (evidence from the UK shows that more people want to get involved with Clubmark clubs)
  • parents and guardians know that juniors will be safe and have quality coaching
  • your development plan will help you plan for the future and can help you get sponsorship
  • coaches and volunteers will develop skills
  • funding for coach education up to Level 2
  • support to have a film made about your club or event
  • priority free hire of equipment such as a trailer or marquees to help you run events
  • Jersey Clubmark logo or plaque for your club to display
  • the sports development department will promote your club

Jersey Clubmark Management and Safety Award

The Jersey Clubmark Management and Safety Award recognises those sports clubs that are not able to meet the coaching requirements of the full Jersey Clubmark award.  This may be because it will take a very long time to get coaches qualified up to Level 2 or that their sport doesn’t have accredited coaching qualifications.

Clubs with this award must still meet the club management, safety and off-island travel requirements of Jersey Clubmark.  They may also meet some elements of the coaching and competition standards.

Contact the sports club officer on +44 (0) 1534 449792 for more information.
