Consultation period extended for 0/10 tax proposals

29 June 2006

Treasury and Resources Minister Senator Terry Le Sueur has extended the consultation period for the 0/10 tax proposals, in response to a request from Jersey Finance and others. The consultation will now end on 31 July 2006.

Jersey Finance has established a sub-committee, the Fiscal Strategy Group, which is currently working on detailed responses to three current consultation papers on taxation: the 0/10 design proposal; the draft GST Law and the proposal for the treatment of financial services under GST. This group is made up of representatives from across the industry and is consulting extensively with member firms of Jersey Finance and the trade associations.

Jersey Finance made a formal request for the extension to the Minister yesterday and he has agreed to give more time for them, and others, to complete their response. This extension will not affect the fiscal strategy timetable.
