Employment Forum Appoints 3 new members

24 October 2006

The Social Security Minister has approved the appointment of three new members to the Employment Forum.

Forum Chair, Wendy Malorey, said "The Forum is delighted to announce that the new members are; Mrs Jan McCarthy, Director of Human Resources at Le Riche Retail, Carol Le Cocq, currently Deputy Head of Haute Vallée School, and David Robinson, an employee of the Jersey Electricity Company and Chairman of the Prospect Union Committee. The new members will bring a range of experience to the Forum which will undoubtedly assist us in consulting on and recommending appropriate employment legislation for Jersey, and we look forward to working with them".

Phase 1 of the employment legislation is now almost complete and consultation on Phase 2 of the employment legislation will begin shortly. The Forum will begin by consulting on redundancy and transfer of undertakings legislation during 2006, and will then continue consulting on the rest of phase 2, which includes maternity, equal opportunities, family friendly and flexible working legislation.

Social Security Minister, Paul Routier, commented, "I am grateful to the retiring members who have served the Forum well over the years; Tom Binet, Alison Mellor, and of course our retiring Chairman, Richard Plaster. I am confident that the new members will contribute a great deal to the Forum and I look forward to continuing to receive the Forum’s balanced and independent recommendations as we move into Phase two of the employment legislation.
