Economic Development Marathon Runners

29 September 2006

“Ready Eddy Go”

Jersey’s green lane speed restrictions of 15mph will undoubtedly remain unchallenged by the Economic Development team of Standard Chartered Marathon runners.

The team of five has been training hard for the event outside of their daily duties that include operating Jersey’s Tourism visitor services centre, Jersey Harbours, strategic development and none the least; Ministerial duties for Jersey’s Economic Development Department.

Zoë Blake, Neil Corbel, Howard Le Cornu, Kevin Lemasney and Senator Philip Ozouf are the Economic Development team representatives and all are thoroughly looking forward to running a leg of the 2006 inaugural race.

Neil Corbel who is running the last leg of the race said “to run a whole marathon would have been a big ask of my level of fitness but I am really delighted to take part in this inaugural marathon – I will be able to say…with a certain level of poetic licence: ””I was there first!””

Senator Ozouf said “I do enjoy running to compete, however, this is one instance when the taking part will be the greatest pleasure – the Standard Chartered Marathon promises to be a great event and I hope will grow to become a signature date in Jersey’s annual calendar – my thanks to all of those who are helping make it happen and to Headway whom I hope will benefit greatly from the funds raised”
