Jersey plays host to French Delegation

13 September 2007

Jersey’s close relationship with Normandy will be discussed tomorrow (Thursday) as Chief Minister Frank Walker welcomes a delegation from the Conseil Général de la Manche at Elizabeth Castle.

Led by the Vice-President of the Council, Erick Beaufils the group will meet with their opposite numbers in Jersey, including a number of politicians and leading civil servants.

Transport links between the Island and France will be discussed alongside recycling initiatives and sporting exchange opportunities. Following the morning’s meeting the delegation will view the International Air Display from the grounds of Elizabeth Castle.

The French group will be travelling to Jersey from Carteret courtesy of Manches Iles Express onboard their new passenger vessel, ‘Le Tocqueville’, which is making its maiden voyage to the Island.
