Resurfacing of La Grande Route de St Pierre

19 July 2007

Essential road maintenance work on La Grande Route de St Pierre / La Route de Beaumont between Mont Fallu and La Rue Vegueur (entrance to St Ouen’s Manor) will be carried out starting Tuesday 7th August for a period of 15 weeks.

The majority of the works will be carried out during day time working hours however to avoid the significant disruption to traffic that would otherwise occur, limited evening working will be required at some locations. Detailed notices describing the works and their associated diversion routes will be provided in advance of the project starting.

This project forms part of a programme of significant investment by the Department in the Island ’s road infrastructure and the works will involve significant strengthening as well as repairing La Grande Route de St Pierre. This will be achieved by excavating the areas where strengthening is required and replacing damaged material, before the final running surface is replaced. At the same time drainage pipes used to carry surface water from the road will be repaired and where necessary replaced.

In addition to the technical aspects, Transport and Technical Services Department aims through the project to provide an excellent standard of service to its customers by ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality and customer care are provide. To achieve this, the Department and its Contractor Brenwal Ltd have planned the works in detail and will liaise with affected parties, so that every practicable step to minimise nuisance and disruption is made. Where inconvenience is inevitable, residents, the travelling public and businesses will be provided with clear information in advance of the work.

The Department and its contractor will endeavour to complete this work as quickly and quietly as possible. However while work is ongoing, the public’s kind understanding of the inevitable disturbance caused by this essential maintenance would be appreciated.
