Result of Election for Chief Minister

Senator Terence Augustine Le Sueur was elected by the new States Assembly as Chief Minister designate on Monday 8th December 2008.  He beat Senator Alan Breckon by 36 votes to 17 in the ballot for this position.

The new States will meet again on Thursday 11th December 2008 at 9.30 a.m. to appoint Ministers and then the Chairman of the various Committees and Panels. The Chief Minister designate will take office as Chief Minister once the final ministerial appointment has been made by the States.

 

The Chief Minister designate is required to give notice of the members that he will be nominating as Ministers and the order in which he wishes members to vote on those appointments. He must give this information to the Greffier of the States by 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday 10th December 2008 and the Greffier will then publish the nominations.
