Jersey Firm Wins Web Services Contract

Local company C5 Alliance has been appointed to host, maintain and develop the States of Jersey web services. The company will work with the Information Services department to improve the States’ websites and make them more customer focused, accessible and efficient.

C5 Alliance was the successful bidder in a rigorous tender process that began in July 2008. Thirteen Jersey firms initially expressed interest in the work. Two companies were selected from a shortlist of four and, after a comprehensive selection process, C5 Alliance was ultimately successful.

Director of Information Services, Neil Wells, said: “The appointment of C5 Alliance is an exciting step for the future of our web-based services. Working with a business partner will enable the States of Jersey to provide information in a more streamlined and efficient way. With C5 Alliance as our partner we can start to redesign States websites and deliver a better quality service, which the public now expects.”

A recent review highlighted the need to consolidate the various States websites and update how they are managed. The ultimate aim is to create a more efficient, user-friendly service for the public.

Appointing a specialist partner will mean some technical tasks will be taken out of the States, leaving the in-house web services team to focus on web site content.

“Web-based delivery offers very significant benefits in improving the accessibility and quality of customer services and information, but also drives down the cost per transaction which could result in considerable savings,” said Neil Wells.
