Careers Fair 2009

28 August 2009

The annual Careers event opens on Tuesday 15 September at 4.00pm until 8.00pm at Gloucester Hall, Fort Regent.

The event showcases careers in sectors of Jersey’s economy and has proved very successful over the last 3 years. It is aimed at people of all ages and at all stages of their career development - undergraduates, graduates, Highlands College students, 6th Formers and adults seeking a new direction, a career change or perhaps wanting to retrain after a redundancy.

Practical advice

Representatives from companies, professional associations and States departments will be there to give practical first hand advice on training, qualifications and career paths. Careers Jersey will also be on hand for general careers advice and a CV drop-in clinic. As well as advice the event also provides an opportunity to establish useful contacts for the future.

Young people and university students

For young people, decisions about the future start at the age of 14 with choices about examinations at GCSE level leading on to either A-levels or vocational studies.  At all these stages accurate information about employment opportunities and the requirements for particular careers is a vital factor in making the right decisions. For university students who have not yet returned to college, the Careers Fair 2009 is an ideal opportunity to see where their studies can lead them. Parents are also encouraged to attend to see what options are available for their children.

Exhibitors

There will be representatives from a diverse range of employment areas including: engineering, construction, architecture; health, psychology, social services, emergency services, education and youth work; and broadcasting, marketing, finance, law, hospitality, the armed forces and many more.

It is not too late for exhibitors to get involved. To reserve a space contact the Careers Jersey office.
