Parachute jump raises over £2560 for charity

12 October 2009

A cheque for over £2,560 will be presented to the Jersey Renal Charitable Trust after 3 members from the same family took a sponsored parachute jump over St Aubin's Bay

Julia Le Cornu, husband Byron and daughter Abigail made the jump in memory of Julia's father, Donald Wellman, who sadly passed away in March 2009. Mr Wellman attended the Renal Clinic for the last 4 years of his life and the family wanted to show their appreciation of the care and support he was given during this time.

Julia played tribute to the work undertaken at the clinic: "My father enjoyed an extra 4 years of life because of the wonderful work done by Dr Kumar and his team; I cannot thank them enough. My thanks also go to the fundraising support I received from my friends and colleagues at Lloyds TSB bank. They have been marvellous. My other daughter, Lucy, also did a huge amount of fundraising, so she was the fourth member of the team."

The cheque will be presented to the consultant nephrologist Dr Ajay Kumar at the Renal Unit, on the 3rd floor at the General Hospital on 21 October 2009 at 2pm. The media are invited to attend.
