Housing visit to counterparts in Guernsey

08 June 2009

On Friday 22 May, the Housing Minister, Senator Terry Le Main and representatives from his department visited their counterparts in Guernsey to discuss a number of items of mutual interest.

Amongst the topics discussed was the economic downturn, Jersey's Review of Social Housing and Guernsey's emerging Older People’s Housing, Care and Support Strategy.

Another important issue on the agenda was Jersey's new Income Support Scheme and the effect this has had on social housing and private sector rental payments. During the afternoon, the group were taken on a tour of Guernsey's housing developments, led by the Chief Executive of the Guernsey Housing Association, Steve Williams.

Senator Terry Le Main said, "These regular meetings have proved to be extremely productive as we can learn a great deal by sharing our plans and experience with our Guernsey colleagues. I am extremely grateful to Deputy Dave Jones, Guernsey's Housing Minister and his team for their hospitality today".
