Lord Bach to visit Jersey

16 April 2009

Lord Bach, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice, with particular responsibility for the Crown Dependencies, is visiting Jersey on Friday 17 April 2009.

This will be Lord Bach's first official visit to Jersey and has been scheduled to strengthen the close relationship the Island has traditionally enjoyed with the United Kingdom. He will undertake a full programme of events and functions during his stay; these will include a tour of the States Chamber and a visit to the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

William Stephen Bach was born on 25 December 1946 and was educated at Westminster School and New College, Oxford, before being called to the Bar in 1972. He was raised to the peerage as Baron Bach, of Lutterworth in the County of Leicestershire in 1998 and appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice on 6 October 2008. He is a British Labour member of the House of Lords. Married, with three children, he lives in Lutterworth and his interests include watching cricket and football (he is a Leicester City fan).
