New Air Service from Oxford

08 July 2009

Jersey will welcome its first flight from Oxford Airport on Saturday afternoon, 11 July 2009. The weekly service, between 11 July and 12 September 2009 will use a Bombadier Dash 8-300 50-seater turboprop aircraft from the Air Southwest fleet.

The summer charter service is being operated by CI Travel Group who offers both inclusive holidays to Jersey as well as flight only. According to the company’s Managing Director, Robert Mackenzie, interest in the service is exceptionally high with the first flight already full. He said, “Demand for this new air route has been very high and already over 70% of seats have been sold. CI Travel Group offers a variety of packages across all accommodation ranges, from the more modest properties up to 4 and 5 star hotels and we have seen a number of bookings across all these sectors. We are delighted with the results so far and look forward to further developing the route in the years ahead”.

Arriving passengers from the first flight on Saturday afternoon will be officially welcomed to the Island by Mr Mackenzie and Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Senator Paul Routier, alongside senior airport management representatives. Each arriving passenger will receive a Jersey goody bag in celebration of the inaugural flight.
