Hub Europe to take over Central Market post office

The Central Market will continue to have a postal facility following a decision by Jersey Property Holdings to grant a lease to another postal operator.

Hub Europe will run the service in the current post office unit which will become vacant at the end of October following Jersey Post’s decision to terminate their lease.

The lease for the Central Market site was advertised in the Jersey Evening Post and through Jersey Property Holding’s agent Guy Gothard and Co.  21 expressions of interest were received which lead to 6 formal proposals. Following an interview process, the lease is to be granted to Hub Europe.

Assistant Minister for Treasury and Resources, Deputy John Le Fondré, said “My decision to grant the post office site lease to Hub Europe is in accordance with the commitment I gave earlier this year to continue, if possible, to provide a postal facility in the Central Market.”

Hub Europe’s lease will run until 2013.
