Parking Control Madeira Fundraiser

10 March 2010

The Parking Control Section of Transport and Technical Services and shoppers at Sand Street Car Park have raised more than £400 for the Madeira Landslide Appeal.

Last Friday off duty Parking Control Officers (PCOs) got together and offered to carry shopping bags for people returning to their cars. at Sand Street car park, in exchange for a donation to the Madeira Appeal.  The team reported that the public were very responsive and many people were happy to donate even if they didn’t require the services of the PCOs.

“On behalf of the Parking Control Officers, I would like to thank all those people who helped us raise this fantastic sum of money in just four hours,” said John Rogers, Chief Officer for Transport and Technical Services.  “I would also like to commend the officers for instigating this initiative which was so successful.”
