Car park parking fines can now be paid online

21 January 2010

From today, 21 January 2010, anyone who receives an Excess Charge Notice (parking fine) in a car park administered by Transport and Technical Services (TTS), will be able to pay via the internet.

All the details of how to pay, including the new online option via the States website, will be displayed on the Excess Charge Notice itself.

Online parking fine payments

TTS is continually looking at ways to improve the services it provides and this online payment facility will allow customers a more flexible alternative to the current options available, as people will be able to pay from their homes or offices. This may be particularly useful for those wishing to take advantage of the prompt payment discount, applicable for settlement within 3 working days of the penalty being issued.

The parishes do not currently have the ability to administer parking fines online, therefore any on street or parish car park ‘ticket’ will not have this payment option.

“Whilst we don’t relish giving parking fines, when people contravene the parking regulations and do find themselves with an Excess Charge Notice, this new online option will give them added payment flexibility,” said Connétable Mike Jackson, the Minister for Transport and Technical Services. “Our customers have told us this is what they want, both directly and through the feedback from the Jersey Annual Social Survey. Online payment is a very efficient form of payment so the department will benefit as well.”
