St Clement speed limits to change on Friday

10 November 2010

Drivers are reminded that almost all of the 40mph speed limits in St Clement are reducing to 30mph from Friday 12 November 2010.

The Minister for Transport and Technical Services agreed to the reduction following requests from the Connétable of St Clement and the relevant law has now been changed. Parishioners were concerned about road safety in the country lanes and residential areas where lower speed limits will be particularly beneficial for pedestrians and cyclists.

Transport and Technical Services has been erecting the new signs over the last couple of weeks and these will be uncovered and on display on Friday when the law comes into force.

Several roads are affected including the coast road and the inner main roads as well as the smaller roads and lanes that do not already have a 15mph or 20mph speed limit.

“I would advise drivers to be extra vigilant in St Clement and look out for these speed limit changes which are clearly signposted” said Len Norman, Connétable of St Clement.
