Minister confirms that Verita will make return visit

26 July 2010

Deputy Anne Pryke has confirmed that Verita will be returning to the Island in August in order to continue to look at their recommendations for the running of the hospital. This follows Verita's independent investigation and report into the care, treatment and management of Mrs Elizabeth Rourke, who died during a routine operation at the General Hospital.

HSSD Minister Deputy Pryke said "I can confirm that the team from Verita and representatives from HSSD's senior management team will meet in mid August for a planning meeting about future work.

"Once this meeting is complete, Verita will then return to the Island in late September or early October with a review team to find out the progress made on their recommendations laid out in the original report.

"Verita will submit a report of its findings to me in December 2010."
