Property company members proposed

03 March 2011

The Minister for Treasury and Resources has lodged a proposition (P.32/2011) recommending that the States Assembly appoint Baroness Ford to the post of non-executive chairman of the States of Jersey Development Company (SoJDC) alongside the following 3 non-executive directors:

  • Roger Lewis, former chairman of the Berkley Group
  • Nicola Palios, former chief executive of Mourant
  • David Pretty CBE, former group chief executive of Barratt Developments

A robust and transparent selection process, which was overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission, has resulted in the proposal of a board whose members have extensive experience, both on and off the Island, of working at the most senior levels in housing, local financial services and large-scale urban regeneration.

Minister for Treasury and Resources, Senator Philip Ozouf, said “I am very pleased to be in a position to recommend the appointment of a strong board with such an impressive track record in regeneration, house-building and financial services. I have every confidence that the collective value of their individual skills, expertise and technical backgrounds will be of great benefit to the future work of the States of Jersey Development Company.”

Subject to States approval, the non-executive directors and Baroness Ford will take up their roles in early April following the establishment of the SoJDC. Board members of the SoJDC will act as independent representatives of the company as it delivers new property development for the States of Jersey.
