House Fire at Mont Cochon

29 July 2011

Crews were called to a fire at a property on Mont Cochon on Friday afternoon (29 July).

The fire broke out in the dining room after some curtains set alight.

A halogen lamp next to the curtains and had been accidentally turned on.

2 firefighters entered the property and extinguished the fire using a carbon dioxide extinguisher and a high pressure hosereel.

Nobody was injured but Jersey Fire and Rescue Service say the smoke damage was extensive.

The Service says although this was a relatively small fire, it highlights the need to isolate at the plug socket any electrical items within the home which are not regularly used.
