Latest retail sales figures released

Jersey's latest retail sales figures have been released by the Statistics Unit.

The Retail Sales Survey for Quarter 1 (Q1) 2011 shows that:

  • the seasonally adjusted volume of retail sales in Q1 2011 was 5% higher than the same quarter a year previously
  • this represents the third successive quarter recording an increase in the volume of retail sales on an annual basis
  • the total volume in the latest quarter, Q1 2011, was similar to that of almost 3 years ago
  • in Q1 2011 the volume of retail sales in predominantly food stores was 1% higher than a year earlier
  • in predominantly non-food stores the volume of retail sales in Q1 2011 was 7% higher than a year earlier
