Bouley Bay pontoon to be moved to winter storage

07 November 2012

Arrangements are being made to remove the Bouley Bay pontoon from the water for winter storage on Friday 9 November 2012. This will be subject to weather and tidal conditions.

The pontoon will be brought back to St Helier by the States tug, the Duke of Normandy. It will then be assessed for any repairs that need to be undertaken in the hope that it can be redeployed in 2013.

Once the pontoon has been removed, work will be undertaken by Transport and Technical Services to repair the mooring chains in the bay, some of which are in a state of disrepair.

Although Port of Jersey does not own the pontoon, officers are in discussions with local interest groups to help identify the most cost-effective and acceptable long-term solution for the facility. A further meeting is planned for next week, when it's hoped an amicable agreement can be reached.
