Build a library with LEGO competition

17 September 2019

Islanders will have the opportunity to build their own dream library out of LEGO bricks in a competition being run by Jersey Library, from 23 September until 4 October.

The ‘Build your library of the future’ competition links in with the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) initiative to celebrate national Libraries Week, which runs from 7 to 12 October.

Participants should use LEGO to build the structure of their library and are encouraged to get creative by using other materials to bring the library to life. Participants can either visit the town library to build their model in situ, or build at home and email a photograph to the library:  je.library@gov.je
The winner from the Jersey entries will be entered into the UK competition from which the most innovative and inspirational entry will receive tickets to Legoland and £500 for their local library.

Anyone with a Twitter account can enter into the national competition, however islanders are being encouraged to enter the local competition to have the chance to win a prize from the Jersey library.

Principal Librarian, Cathy Bithell said: “We really look forward to seeing local entries in the ‘build your library of the future’ competition using LEGO bricks. It will be a creative and engaging exercise for islanders of all ages.”
