Revenue Jersey release new tax return help videos

27 March 2019

Revenue Jersey have created a media campaign, including new how-to videos, to further support islanders to ‘Get their Tax Return Right’.

The four month campaign focuses on encouraging islanders to use the new help and guidance now available. It forms part of a wider commitment to ‘make it easier’ for islanders to understand and meet their tax obligations.

Revenue Jersey’s upgraded guidance includes new, clear and accessible tax-return help videos, designed to provide greater support for islanders 24/7.

The how-to videos provide checklists of the required paperwork, with step-by-step instructions for how to fill out the following sections of the tax return:

• personal details
• employment
• self-employment
• pension income
• property income
• renting out a room
• mortgage relief
• children

Comptroller of Taxes, Richard Summersgill said: “In previous years, during this peak time, taxpayers have experienced long queues at the tax helpdesk when they have come in to check with an advisor whether they have filled in their return correctly.  We hope that the videos and the increase in online guidance available, will assist islanders in accurately completing their tax forms and prevent them from having to stand in a long queue.”

Revenue Jersey have also made it easier to post this year’s tax return by providing a Freepost envelope. All of the tax return help and guidance, including the new videos, can be accessed at on the Tax Return Guidance Page. If you have lost or not received your return you are advised to contact the personal tax team for help.

Customers who need advice on specific matters are reminded that the quickest way to resolve queries is to call the Personal Tax team on +44 (0) 1534 440 300. Calls are currently resolved, on average, in under 3 minutes. Customers wishing to get face to face help are reminded that the Taxes Help Desk it is now located at Customer and Local Services, La Motte Street.

The deadline for submitting personal tax returns is 6pm on 31 May 2019.
