Three Government employees have been awarded MBEs

31 December 2020

Three Government employees have been awarded MBEs. Two staff members have been recognised for their work in Health and Community Services and one for their work in Customer and Local Services:

  • Neil Maclachlan for services as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.
  • Clare Ryder for services as Lead Nurse for Mental Health
  • Glenn De La Haye for services as Safeguarding Lead at Customer and Local Services.

Clare Ryder arrived in Jersey at the end of 2013 and has since been working within Mental Health. She qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1997 and has worked in both the NHS and private healthcare in the UK. She said: “Working for the Government of Jersey provides a real opportunity to make a difference, the support to develop and enhance eservices is excellent, I am extremely proud of the staff  I have worked with over this year, they continue to deliver outstanding care and support.”

Neil MacLachlan started as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 1991 and has been working in Healthcare since. He said: “I feel incredibly honoured to receive this award but do so with the acknowledgement that it could not have happened without the love and support of my family and friends.

“Our hospital is about the patients and staff who work so tirelessly within it, day and night. It has been a privilege to be part of this team over the last 30 years and I dedicate this award to those who I have worked with so closely throughout my career.”

Glenn De La Haye started working for the Government in Social Security in 2012 and has been Safeguarding Lead for CLS since 2015. He said: “Throughout my time in Government I have enjoyed the good humour and willingness of my colleagues to go above and beyond.

“The Government’s joint approach has developed more so through this Pandemic where all departments have pulled together and there is no greater reward than knowing you have helped someone.”

Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré said: “I whole-heartedly congratulate these three members of the Government of Jersey for being awarded MBEs. All three have worked extremely hard since starting their careers in Government, especially during this difficult year.

“They have shown immense commitment and I commend the work they have put into this Island over the years.  I am extremely pleased that it has been recognised on a national level.”
