Government partners with local recruitment agency

16 November 2020

The Government is partnering with a local recruitment agency for the first time to find staff who can work on modernising the Government.

ASL Recruitment is assisting the Government in recruiting on Island for over 50 vacancies within Modernisation and Digital (M&D). Roles include Solutions Architects, Solutions Developers, Senior Systems Technicians, and a Corporate Records Manager. People who apply for these roles will be building technical solutions to drive the Government forward using the latest technology and techniques.

The ambition of M&D is to create a digital future for Islanders and to create more modernised, streamlined, and sustainable services. As part of the Government Plan, M&D will be investing in the improvement of the public service function through the use of digital technologies to suit the needs of Islanders and by collaborating with ASL, the Government will be able to reach more people and broaden its search for local talent.

Group Director of M&D Gary Bowles said: “The Government of Jersey has exciting and ambitious plans to enable change through new and innovative ways of working and it is important for us to think local in our recruitment process.

“We are keen to support the interests of Islanders and by using a Jersey based recruitment agency, we hope to inspire local people and give them the chance to be part of the team that improves the Island’s digital future.”

Heidi Gibaut, Managing Director of ASL, said: “We have had a long association with the Government of Jersey, and we are delighted that this contract to help drive the Modernisation and Digital programme forward has gone to a local company.

"We went through every stage of the tendering process knowing that we were against highly experienced companies and we are proud to be the first local recruitment company to be awarded such a large government contract. ASL has drawn an experienced team of recruitment specialists to work with the Government on this exciting project to recruit local talent and drive forward the One Gov vision.”

Brett Furse, Search Specialist in ASL’s One Gov team, said: “We believe the Government’s intention to recruit local people to work on this project is a breath of fresh air and so far, the interest from candidates has been high. We are aiming to attract top local talent to work on this project and we are looking forward to working with the Government.”
