Applications open for construction apprenticeship programme

29 April 2021

Applications are now open for apprentices who wish to be part of Jersey's biggest construction project in generations.

RoKFCC, the delivery partner behind Jersey's new hospital, is offering to sponsor eight apprenticeship places to help local youngsters gain qualifications and experience while working on the Our Hospital project.

Applications for the Built Environment Apprenticeship Programme are now open for Islanders currently studying for a built environment qualification or those who have been considering a career across the construction industry.

There are opportunities available in construction management, quantity surveying, planning, engineering, sustainability, and design. They include graduate jobs, apprenticeships, work experience, summer placements and industry engagement.

Richard de Gruchy, Legacy Director for RoKFCC, said: "We are very excited to be in a position to invest in our Island's future while delivering a new hospital for Jersey. Bringing in apprentices on such a large-scale project will give these Islanders an unrivalled insight into the building industry and on-the-job experience they would not usually be able to access in our Island."

Deputy Chief Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham, Chair of the Our Hospital Political Oversight group, added: "This programme presents a unique opportunity for any young Islander wishing to enter the construction industry to gain experience and qualifications while working alongside a hugely experienced delivery partner. Schemes such as this, which train our local workforce and invest in our economy, continue to ensure the long-term success of our Island."
