Vaccination statistics and interim advice on booster jabs

The latest COVID-19 vaccination statistics as at Sunday 27 June, show that 81% of all adult Islanders have had at least one dose of the vaccine, and 60% are fully vaccinated. 

Additionally, 51% of Islanders aged 18-29 years old have received their first dose. 

Other key vaccination statistics:
• 93% of all Islanders over 50 years old are fully vaccinated
• 87% of all Islanders, over 30 years old have had one dose
• 122, 930 total doses administered

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has released interim advice regarding a potential COVID-19 booster programme rolling out in September. This information is subject to change depending on further confirmation from the JCVI. 

Head of the Vaccination Programme, Becky Sherrington, said: “It is fantastic to see that approximately 93% of Islanders over 50 years old have received their second dose. This is a significant milestone for all Islanders and Jersey are leading the way internationally in our vaccinations rate. Although, as always, I would still encourage Islanders who have not yet had their first dose to book an appointment as soon as they can. We know that the vaccines will protect you from the ill effects of COVID-19.  

“We also welcome the interim advice from the JCVI and continue to prepare for a potential booster programme in the Autumn. We continue to follow the advice provided from the JCVI and have been preparing operational models based on various potential scenarios. We will provide an update on this once we have further finalised details.”  

Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf, said: “These statistics show we are getting closer to nearly all adult Islanders having had at least one dose. I urge those Islanders who have not booked their first appointment to do so before the 11 July so that they are guaranteed to be fully vaccinated by mid-August. This is particularly important for those Islanders who are looking forward to stand-up drinking and returning to night clubs once they reopen. 

“Additionally, I encourage those Islanders aged over 50 who have not yet been vaccinated to book an appointment, as they are at a higher-risk of developing complications if they become unwell with the virus.”
