Coronation Park extension consultation

05 September 2022

Islanders are being asked for their views on how the proposed extension to Coronation Park should look.

In January, land at Millbrook Playing Fields was gifted to the Island by a benefactor. It has historically been an open, green area and the gift came with conditions which require it to be kept that way.

The Government of Jersey plans to use the additional land as an extension to the existing, adjoining Coronation Park, and is now asking Islanders for input. In addition to two online surveys, worksheets have been sent to schools, encouraging children to draw and submit their designs.

Infrastructure Minister, Deputy Tom Binet, said: "This generous gift of land presents an opportunity to create a wonderful new park area that Islanders of all ages can enjoy. We want to ensure we use it in a way that honours its past as an open area of dune land, but also want to hear from Islanders on exactly what they'd like.

"Following on from the new water play area at Coronation Park, which has been incredibly well used this summer, this extension will be another positive addition to a much-loved park. Many of the suggestions from the water play area consultation were ultimately incorporated into that facility, and we're keen to do likewise with this consultation."

Children across the Island are invited to submit their ideas by completing the worksheets which are available for use by schools, community groups and families. The worksheets and the wider online public consultation, which is open until Monday 31 October, can be found on www.gov.je/CoronationPark
