Vaccination campaign closures announced

20 June 2023

Islanders who haven’t yet had their COVID-19 Spring Booster or their first and second doses have until Friday 30 June to book their appointment as both offers will be withdrawn in July in line with JCVI advice.

Bookings can be made online at up until and including Friday 30 June. Islanders who are not up to date with their schedule are strongly encouraged to book an appointment before the offers are withdrawn.

Those who are immunosuppressed will be unaffected by this change and will still be able to receive their vaccinations at Fort Regent after this date.

The Spring Booster programme opened on Monday 3 April and is available to:

  • Islanders aged 75 and over
  • residents in care homes
  • immunosuppressed individuals aged 5 and over.
  • 55% of those eligible for the booster have received their vaccination.

The Primary Course (first and second dose) programme launched in December 2020 and has been successful in vaccinating 81,052 Islanders aged 5 and over (83.1%).

From mid-July, the Vaccination Centre will be operating on reduced hours for immunosuppressed individuals.

Director of Public Health, Professor Peter Bradley, said: “We are in a position where we can continue winding down our vaccination programmes and I am pleased that we have been able to make this decision.

“Since the start of the initial vaccine programme in 2020, our hardworking teams have administered over 270,000 vaccines. I would like to thank everyone across the teams for their hard work and the public for their continued support. Our priority is the health and safety of Islanders and I want to reassure everyone that we will continue to offer support if they are unwell or concerned about COVID-19.

“I encourage those who haven’t yet had their spring booster if eligible, or their first and second doses, to do so before the offer is withdrawn.”
