Proposed minimum wage for 2026 announced

14 November 2025

The Minister for Social Security, Deputy Lyndsay Feltham, has proposed a new minimum wage rate for 2026 from, raising it from its current level of £13.00 to £13.59 an hour.

To give employers sufficient time to plan, the Minister is announcing the rate well in advance of its proposed implementation on 1 April 2026.

This proposal achieves the Government’s commitment, set out in its Common Strategic Policy, to raise the minimum wage to two-thirds of the median wage – ensuring that pay in Jersey keeps pace with both the cost of living and broader economic growth.

Minister for Social Security, Deputy Lyndsay Feltham said: “This proposed increase is another important step in ensuring that employees are paid fairly in Jersey. It more than achieves our commitment to move the minimum wage in line with two-thirds of the median wage and is an important step towards the goal of a living wage for all. I would like to encourage employers to go further and seek voluntary accreditation with the Living Wage Foundation, through Caritas Jersey. I have also maintained the trainee rate at £10.50 next year, ensuring that those starting a new career are able to find an apprenticeship or trainee scheme to help them develop their skills.”
