Robert Martin ALLAN, 37, from Dumfries has been sentenced today by the Royal Court to 6 years and 9 months imprisonment for the importation of
98.56 grams of cocaine, with a street value of £25,000.
ALLAN arrived in the Island on Thursday 18 September 2025 on a flight from Glasgow. He was
stopped and questioned by Jersey Customs and Immigration Officers and stated that he was
visiting for around two days having booked a single ticket to the Island. He advised Officers that
he knew no one in the Island and it was his first visit. It was established that ALLAN was
unemployed receiving benefits and only had £35 in his possession. He made admissions to both
cannabis and cocaine use and swabs taken from his baggage proved positive to cocaine.
Officers became suspicious that ALLAN was carrying drugs internally and he was arrested on
suspicion of importing controlled drugs. Following a positive CT scan showing that ALLAN had
seven packages concealed internally he produced the packages which were found to contain a
total of 98.56 grams of cocaine.
During interview ALLAN stated that he had amassed a drug debt of approximately £1,000 and
had been threatened by three Albanians in Dumfries to carry out the importation to clear his
debt.
Paul Le Monnier, Senior Manager at Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, said: “Drug
importations cause serious harm to our community and fuel organised crime. It is not
uncommon to encounter individuals importing drugs to clear their debts, but their involvement
is no less accountable, and they should expect to receive severe sentences for their role”.
