Announcement of Partnership Leads

01 May 2026

Three Partnership Leads have been appointed as part of a two-year pilot to strengthen collaboration, inclusion, and leadership across Jersey schools.

Following a rigorous and robust selection process the three Partnership Leads will formally begin their roles to support the delivery of a new school partnership model for Jersey in September.

Two of these colleagues are moving from Headteacher posts, and recruitment processes will begin for their schools in the usual way.

The successful candidates are Vicki Charlesworth, John Baudains and Joanna Pearce.

Vicki Charlesworth is Headteacher of Les Landes School, a position she has held for 13 years, and was Leading Headteacher across St Peter and Les Landes Schools between 2020 to 2022. Vicki brings extensive leadership experience across Jersey’s education system, having served as Deputy Headteacher at both St Luke’s School and d’Auvergne School, and as a teacher at Mont Nicolle School.  She is a Governor at Beaulieu Convent School and a member of the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Taskforce. Her work is defined by a clear commitment to high standards, inclusive practice, and the development of strong, sustainable leadership.

Vicki said: “I am looking forward to working as part of The Jersey Schools Partnership; an exciting opportunity to bring schools together in a more structured and purposeful way to improve outcomes for all our children. This role is about strengthening inclusion, sharing what works and building a system where every child, in every school, thrives.”

John Baudains grew up and was educated in Jersey. Following the completion of his teaching degree at Exeter University, he returned to the Island and has worked within education in Jersey his whole career.  As a teacher he worked at Mont Nicolle school and later Grouville School, teaching right across the primary age range.  John became a headteacher in 2012 and has now led several Jersey schools, initially Mont Nicolle School, then La Moye School.  Between 2020 and 2022 he was the Leading Headteacher of a partnership of two schools, La Moye and Bel Royal.  John has also led various projects and training within Jersey Education and most recently was one of the headteachers seconded to lead the project on developing partnership working across Jersey’s education system.

John said: “It is a real honour to be able to take on this new pilot role within Jersey Education.  I believe that by working more collaboratively and developing a culture of partnership working, we can share best practice and continue to improve our education offer: to do the very best for every child on our Island.  I am excited about the potential impact this new trial approach could have and look forward to working on this project with the other newly appointed Partnership Leads.”

Joanna Pearce moved to Jersey with her family in June 2024, where she began working as a Senior Advisor within CYPES focusing on school improvement, policy, and curriculum. She previously served as a Primary Headteacher in England and as Head of Teaching and Learning across a group of schools. More recently, as a Primary English Consultant, she worked with a wide range of schools and partnerships, delivering professional development and leading long term improvement projects across the UK and internationally.

Jo said: “It is a huge privilege to work in schools and alongside school leaders. I am very much looking forward to this role, which brings together my experience and commitment to equity and inclusion, with a clear focus on working together to ensure that all our children feel that they belong at school and are supported to achieve their goals.”

With these three appointments now confirmed, we are continuing the recruitment process for the final Partnership Lead position.

Two of the successful candidates are current Headteachers who will move into Partnership Lead roles. Recruitment will take place to appoint new Headteachers for their schools.
